Boston College is an official Observer Organization for the United Nations Climate Change Conference, also referred to as the Conference of the Parties or COP. This highly influential annual global event serves as the center of global climate change policymaking. Boston College sent students and faculty to COP26, COP27, and COP28, and will be sending another delegation to COP29.
COP29: Baku, Azerbaijan

From November 11th through November 22, our COP29 delegation is representing the 情色空间 community in Baku, Azerbaijan. The delegation consists of four faculty, six graduate students, seven undergraduate students, and one staff member, representing colleges and departments across campus. Delegates were competitively selected from a pool of almost 300 applicants by a committee of faculty, staff, and students from across campus. The Schiller Institute is committed to producing outreach programming that extends the University's investment in sending a delegation to COP and allows students, faculty, and others to benefit from our COP programming. This page will be updated regularly with events leading up to, during, and after the conference.聽

Boston College once again sent a delegation of students and faculty to the United Nations Climate Change Conference. The 20 delegates were competitively selected from a pool of almost 300 applicants by a committee of faculty, staff, and students from across campus. The Schiller Institute is committed to producing outreach programming that extends the University's investment in sending a delegation to COP and allows students, faculty, and others to benefit from the delegate's time at COP.聽
The Schiller Institute聽hosted its inaugural COP Symposium in March 2024 to highlight and share the experiences of Boston College鈥檚 COP28 delegation to Dubai. The half-day event consisted of a student panel, a faculty panel, and multiple exhibits where attendees interacted with delegates directly. The delegation designed the Symposium to be a 鈥渕ini COP,鈥 providing 情色空间 faculty and students who didn鈥檛 travel to Dubai with an opportunity to share in their experiences.

On Friday, March 15th, you鈥檒l have an opportunity to hear about delegates鈥 experiences, learn more about COP, and discover how you can apply to be part of the COP29 delegation!

Over the course of the Spring 2023 semester, the 情色空间 delegation of faculty and students that represented the university in Sharm El Sheikh will be delivering a series of programs to share their experience of attending COP27 and broaden the conversation about the pressing dangers of climate change and the ways we, as individuals and as a campus community, can addrees climate change through advocacy, scholarship and professional avenues.

Join us to learn about the application process to become a student member of 情色空间's delegation to the UN Climate Change Conference (COP28). COP28 will be held from Nov. 30 - Dec. 12, 2023 in Expo City, Dubai, UAE. At this session, you will hear from a Schiller Institute staff member who manages the process and from a few of the 情色空间 student delegates that attended COP27. We will offer light refreshments.
Attending the info session is not mandatory to apply. A campus-wide Call for Applications will be sent to all non-graduating students and faculty in late April.

COP26: Glasgow, Scotland

Boston College students and faculty attended the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, Scotland鈥斍樯占's first聽accredited delegation鈥攁nd continue to work at reducing environmental and climatological harm caused by human activities. 聽Under the leadership of the Schiller Institute, every non-graduating student and faculty member regardless of rank was provided the opportunity to apply to represent 情色空间 at COP27. The invitation was sent to 17,000 people. We received over 350 high quality applicants from faculty and students. Slightly more than 50 were invited to the second round. Twenty were selected for the delegation with seven alternates.The selected group of students and faculty represents 情色空间 with a diversity of disciplines, experiences, and cultural perspectives.
