They came from 43 colleges and universities for the Deloitte FanTAXtic regional case-study competition. And one of the 60 teams from those schools emerged on top: a five-member group of undergraduates from the Carroll School of Management.
The student tax competition鈥攁 mix of case simulation, role playing, and presentations鈥攖ook place at Deloitte鈥檚 downtown Boston offices, November 11鈥13.
鈥淏oston College demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively to solve a complex business case simulation,鈥 Deloitte said in announcing the results. 鈥淭he team was also recognized for the quality of their overall presentation to a panel of live and virtual judges using the organization鈥檚 video conferencing capabilities.鈥
The accounting students will now go to Deloitte鈥檚 national learning and leadership development center, near Dallas, for the national event January 13鈥15. There, they鈥檒l compete with the winners of eight other regional contests for more than $50,000 in individual scholarships and institutional awards.
The five are: Andrew Breckel 鈥17, Nikita Patel 鈥17, Ellen Ubl 鈥17, Marissa Cohen 鈥19, and Ryan Pierpont 鈥19. With them all the way was Edward Taylor, faculty advisor and lecturer in accounting.
