The first year of the the traditional full-time MBA program provides students with a broad foundation of business knowledge while fostering connections with classmates. Once students complete the core curriculum in Year 1, they concentrate their studies through electives.

Additionally, all Carroll School MBA students must complete 20 hours of community service in order to graduate from the program. 听

Applied Learning Opportunities

The Full-Time MBA STEM-Designated Track focuses on the application of statistical modeling, data warehousing, data mining, programming, forecasting, and operations research techniques in the context of the business world. Reflecting the quantitative focus of the 情色空间 MBA curriculum, the STEM-Designated Track allows students to delve into technology and analytics across a range of industry functions. Are part-time MBA students eligible for tuition assistance from Boston College?
<p>Our practice is to evaluate every admitted part-time MBA student for a merit based scholarship. In addition to scholarships, our team evaluates every admitted part-time MBA candidate for advanced standing credit鈥攁 potential savings of time and tuition expense. Eligible candidates may qualify for a waiver of up to five MBA courses (for a maximum of 15 credits), based upon prior coursework and/or professional certifications (e.g. CPA, CFA). Can I opt into the STEM-designated track any time?
<p>Incoming students must declare their intent to pursue the STEM-designated track when they fill out their enrollment form and pay their enrollment deposit. </p> <p><b>Important Note:&nbsp;</b>If the STEM track is not selected upon enrollment, students will not be able to switch to it at a later time. Again, although students may opt out later, they will not be able to opt into the track after submitting their enrollment form and deposit.</p>

Can international students apply to part-time graduate programs?
<p>Boston College does not sponsor the F-1 student visa for part-time students. International students who wish to pursue their graduate degree on a part-time basis must be sponsored otherwise. If you require a student visa, then you are only eligible to apply to full-time programs.</p>

Do I need work experience to qualify for the full-time MBA program?
<p>Applicants are evaluated on a number of criteria, including transcripts, test scores, essays, recommendations, and employment history. While work experience is not required, we recommend that you have at least two years of professional work experience before entering the full-time MBA program; the average work experience in recent classes has been four and a half years. Only a small number of applicants are accepted directly out of college. How do I apply for the STEM-designated track?
<p>Full-time MBA applicants go through the regular application process. In the application, applicants will have the opportunity to indicate their interest in the STEM-Designated track within the application. It is non-binding, and will not positively or negatively impact the Committee鈥檚 review of the application.&nbsp;Additionally, applicants may also address their interest in pursuing the STEM-designated track in their application essays.</p> <p>Admitted applicants will be able to confirm their intention to pursue the STEM-designated track when they submit their enrollment forms.<b> Important Note:</b>&nbsp;If the STEM track is not selected upon enrollment, students will not be able to switch to it at a later time.</p>

How does the STEM-designated MBA affect international students?
<p>Under current federal policy, international students (e.g., those on F-1 student visas) are eligible for a total of 12 months of OPT per degree level (Bachelor鈥檚, Master鈥檚, Ph.D.). Students in STEM-designated majors, programs, or tracks may be eligible for an additional 24-month extension if certain conditions are met. How long does it take to complete the part-time MBA program?
<p>The average time is three to four years, and most students take two courses each semester. If I don鈥檛 complete the requirements for the STEM-designated track, can I still graduate with the MBA degree?
<p>Yes, as long as you successfully complete the requirements for the MBA, you will still be able to earn an MBA without the STEM track designation.</p>

<p>The Boston College full-time MBA program is a cross-functional degree with a strong emphasis on teamwork and a global perspective. Is the STEM designation available to all MBA students?
<p>The STEM designation was approved by Boston College in Fall 2022. At this time, the STEM-designated track is only available to full-time MBA students, beginning with the class that entered in Fall 2022.</p>

Is the STEM-designated track a dual degree?
<p>No, the STEM-designated track is one degree. Students pursuing the track are, however, eligible to complete the MBA/MSF dual degree. Students interested in the dual degree should consult with Graduate Admissions for details on the combined program curriculums.</p>

What is an MBA STEM-designated track?
<p>A STEM-designated MBA curriculum reflects the increasing quantitative focus of听 skills needed by today鈥檚 businesses. Increasingly, companies have come to rely on technology and analytics, across all functional areas. The curriculum of our STEM-designated track has a strong emphasis on Statistics, Data-driven Decision Theory, Information Technology, Data Security, Data Visualization, Artificial Intelligence, Programming, and Optimization, present throughout the core curriculum as well as electives.</p>

Why might I choose to not pursue the STEM-designated curriculum?
<p>Although this designation is valuable, it may not align with your career goals. The STEM curriculum places a heavy emphasis on the use of math, science, and technology in business. Some career paths require other skill sets which might not qualify you for a STEM-designated degree. If you are unsure we encourage you to consult with your academic and career advisors.</p>

Will I be able to choose the specific STEM-approved electives I want to take?
<p>As with all of our graduate management programs, the Graduate Student Services Office will ensure a student is registered in courses that meet graduation requirements, but we cannot guarantee a student鈥檚 choice of electives.</p>

Application Fee: All applicants are required to pay a nonrefundable application fee of $100 USD.

Admission Decisions:听Applications are generally reviewed on a rolling basis. This means that, provided their applications are complete, applicants may receive admission decisions before the notification deadlines. However, it is important for applicants to understand that decisions are only guaranteed by the official notification date.

Rounds & Final Deadlines:听For priority consideration, applicants must submit their applications by the earliest date possible. Applications received after the last deadline are reviewed on a space-available basis.

Transcripts

All applicants must possess a four-year bachelor鈥檚 degree from an accredited college or university. You must submit transcripts from every institution where you were enrolled in a degree-granting program. At the time of application, only a self-reported transcript is required but if you are admitted, we will require an official transcript sent directly from your degree-granting institution. Transcripts should include:

  • Course names

  • All grades received (including transfer credits and study abroad programs)

  • Cumulative GPA

  • Degree conferral information

Graduates of non-U.S. institutions must possess a college or university degree equivalent to a four-year U.S. bachelor鈥檚 degree. If admitted, international students are required to submit an official English translation of all academic credentials, along with a third-party degree verification from an agency such as听or.

Standardized Tests

Applicants must submit GMAT or GRE scores from within the past five years. We accept both the GMAT Exam and GMAT Focus Edition. Our test codes are:

Please note that full-time MBA candidates applying for Fall 2025 can request consideration for a GMAT/GRE waiver. before completing your application.

鉁 Application Tip: While Graduate Admissions does not have a preference between the GMAT or GRE, we encourage you to consult class profile data for average test scores in order to gauge where you stand.

English Proficiency

If you are not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, you are required to submit an English language proficiency exam score with your application. We accept TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE scores. We do not accept the Duolingo English Test.

Scores must be from within the past two years, and applicants must meet the following minimum scores:

  • TOEFL, iBT, and TOEFL iBT Home Edition: 100

  • IELTS: 7.5

  • PTE: 68

You are eligible to waive the language test requirement if you meet either of the following criteria:

  • You have completed a four-year bachelor鈥檚 degree or a two-year master鈥檚 degree (or higher) at an institution where the medium language of instruction is English. You must have completed your degree in its entirety at the English-medium institution. The medium language of instruction must be indicated on your transcript or verified in an official letter from the institution.

  • You have worked in a full-time, post-degree position for at least two years in the United States or a country where English is an official language. NOTE: Working for a company that conducts its business in English in a country where English is not an official language will not qualify you for a language test waiver.

鉁 Application Tip: If you are eligible to waive the language test requirement, you do not need to submit a waiver request beforehand and can simply move forward with your application.

Letter of Recommendation

Only one letter of recommendation is required to complete your application, though we will accept up to three letters.

We are interested in learning about you from an individual who can provide an objective appraisal of your capacity for intensive graduate study and your potential for professional success.

Recommenders are required to submit the recommendation forms online and will receive instructions through email once you complete the 鈥淩ecommendation鈥 section of your application.听

鉁 Application Tip: MBA applicants are advised to submit recommendations from professional references, such as supervisors, managers, or colleagues, that are familiar with their day to day work.

Required & Optional Essays

All applicants must submit a required essay of no more than 500 words telling us about your past experiences, short- and long-term goals, and why you want to pursue an MBA at Boston College. You may also submit an optional essay that addresses aspects of your candidacy that have not already been covered in other parts of the application.听
